The Logic Of Humanitarian Arms Control And Disarmament

by Nik Hynek, The Logic Of Humanitarian Arms Control And Disarmament Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download The Logic Of Humanitarian Arms Control And Disarmament books, This novel and original book examines and disaggregates, theoretically and empirically, operations of power in international security regimes. These regimes, varying in degree from regulatory to prohibitory, are understood as sets of normative discourses, political structures and dependencies (anarchies, hierarchies, and heterarchies), and agencies through which power operates within a given security issue area with a regulatory effect. In International Relations, regime analysis has been dominated by several generations of regime theory/theorization. As this book makes clear, not only has the IR Regime Theory been of limited utility for security domain due to its heavy focus on economic and environmental regimes, but it, too, heuristically suffered from its rigid pegging to general IR Theory. It is not surprising then that the evolution of IR Regime Theory has largely been mirroring the evolution of IR Theory in general: from the neo-realist/neo-liberal institutionalist convergence regime theory; through cognitivism; to constructivist regime theory. The commitment of this book is to remedy this situation by bringing together robust power analysis and international security regimes. It provides the reader with a theoretically and empirically uncompromising and comprehensive analysis of the selected international security regimes, which goes beyond one or another school of IR Regime Theory. In doing so, it completely abandons existing, and piecemeal, analysis of regimes within the intellectual field of IR based on conventional grand/mid-range theorization.

Towards Cognitive Autonomous Networks

by Stephen S. Mwanje, Towards Cognitive Autonomous Networks Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Towards Cognitive Autonomous Networks books, Learn about the latest in cognitive and autonomous network management Towards Cognitive Autonomous Networks: Network Management Automation for 5G and Beyond delivers a comprehensive understanding of the current state-of-the-art in cognitive and autonomous network operation. Authors Mwanje and Bell fully describe todays capabilities while explaining the future potential of these powerful technologies. This book advocates for autonomy in new 5G networks, arguing that the virtualization of network functions render autonomy an absolute necessity. Following that, the authors move on to comprehensively explain the background and history of large networks, and how we come to find ourselves in the place were in now. Towards Cognitive Autonomous Networks describes several novel techniques and applications of cognition and autonomy required for end-to-end cognition including: • Configuration of autonomous networks • Operation of autonomous networks • Optimization of autonomous networks • Self-healing autonomous networks The book concludes with an examination of the extensive challenges facing completely autonomous networks now and in the future.

Intelligent Networks Telecommunications Solutions For The 1990s

by Dimitris N. Chorafas, Intelligent Networks Telecommunications Solutions For The 1990s Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Intelligent Networks Telecommunications Solutions For The 1990s books, Intelligent Networks: Telecommunications Solutions for the 1990s addresses the telecommunications perspective of the 1990s and the problems involved in the transition from where we are now to where we should be within the next decade. It will appeal to managers as well as specialists interested in how communications and information technologies will evolve during the coming five to seven years. Valuable information on how they can use the new products becoming available to their company's advantage is also provided. This book is divided into two parts: Part 1 focuses on the strategic aspects of Intelligent Networks, while Part 2 looks into the dynamics and mechanics of computer networks and focuses on transition. Topics discussed in Part 1 include a look into advanced projects currently under development in the U.S. and Japan; the next big steps in deregulation from the viewpoint of the Federal Communications Commission; Artificial Intelligence (AI) implementation in network operations; the establishment of global private networks with AI as the infrastructure; and a discussion regarding the merits of open architectures, ISDN, teleports and bypass, and photonics. Topics discussed in Part 2 include system integration; a case study of Union Bank of Switzerland and how an Intelligent Network documentation database can be used to increase the quality of network design, improve upon the reliability of its implementation, automate diagnostics and facilitate maintenance, provide quality histories for different vendors, and swamp the costs associated with networking. Part 2 also includes a discussion regarding the prerequisites for system reliability; management's role in cost-effectiveness; telecommunications tariffs and the architectural impact on costing; and "how to" tips for negotiating with vendors. This book provides valuable insight into the telecommunications technologies developing over the next 10 years and should be considered required reading for all professionals within the telecommunications industry, finance, and other fields in which data communication plays a vital role.

Innovations In Applied Artificial Intelligence

by Bob Orchard, Innovations In Applied Artificial Intelligence Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Innovations In Applied Artificial Intelligence books, “Intelligent systems must perform in order to be in demand. ” Intelligent systems technology is being applied steadily in solving many day-to-day problems. Each year the list of real-world deployed applications that inconspicuously host the results of research in the area grows considerably. These applications are having a significant impact in industrial operations, in financial circles, in transportation, in education, in medicine, in consumer products, in games and elsewhere. A set of selected papers presented at the seventeenth in the series of conferences on Industrial and Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence and Expert Systems (IEA/AIE 2004), sponsored by the International Society of Applied Intelligence, is offered in this manuscript. These papers highlight novel applications of the technology and show how new research could lead to new and innovative applications. We hope that you find these papers to be educational, useful in your own research, and stimulating. In addition, we have introduced some special sessions to emphasize a few areas of artificial intelligence (AI) that are either relatively new, have received considerable attention recently or perhaps have not yet been represented well. To this end, we have included special sessions on e-learning, bioinformatics, and human-robot interaction (HRI) to complement the usual offerings in areas such as data mining, machine learning, intelligent systems, neural networks, genetic algorithms, autonomous agents, natural language processing, intelligent user interfaces, evolutionary computing, fuzzy logic, computer vision and image processing, reasoning, heuristic search, security, Internet applications, constraint satisfaction problems, design, and expert systems.
