Cunning Machines

by Jędrzej Osiński, Cunning Machines Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Cunning Machines books, There are many myths and mistakes which make the topics of artificial intelligence complex and confusing. But the truth is that the foundations of AI are not rocket science. People do not need a PhD to understand how a basic neural network works. In fact, one does not even need computer skills to learn this. Cunning Machines: Your Pocket Guide to the World of Artificial Intelligence explains the main concepts: what does AI really mean, where do we find it, how do scientists try to evaluate it, what are its main limitations and what future we can expect with it? It also describes the most popular AI techniques in an easy-to-digest form: Artificial neural networks Genetic algorithms The Monte Carlo method Natural language processing Ontologies and their applications This book is for everyone. Still, it may be especially valuable to teachers who wish to enrich their classes with some interesting and popular topics, sales managers and business analysts who wish to better understand the IT world, and finally politicians and journalists who take part in debates on the latest technologies. Jędrzej Osiński earned a PhD in artificial intelligence, has worked on government grants and has published 14 scientific papers to date. He is also the co-author of two books. At the same time, he has over ten years of experience working in IT companies of different sizes, domains (the web, telecoms, banking, e-learning), organisation structures and locations (Poland, Ireland and the UK). He is also involved in various initiatives promoting AI, science and modern technologies including blog posts, invited talks and TV and radio appearances

Innovations In Applied Artificial Intelligence

by Bob Orchard, Innovations In Applied Artificial Intelligence Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Innovations In Applied Artificial Intelligence books, “Intelligent systems must perform in order to be in demand. ” Intelligent systems technology is being applied steadily in solving many day-to-day problems. Each year the list of real-world deployed applications that inconspicuously host the results of research in the area grows considerably. These applications are having a significant impact in industrial operations, in financial circles, in transportation, in education, in medicine, in consumer products, in games and elsewhere. A set of selected papers presented at the seventeenth in the series of conferences on Industrial and Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence and Expert Systems (IEA/AIE 2004), sponsored by the International Society of Applied Intelligence, is offered in this manuscript. These papers highlight novel applications of the technology and show how new research could lead to new and innovative applications. We hope that you find these papers to be educational, useful in your own research, and stimulating. In addition, we have introduced some special sessions to emphasize a few areas of artificial intelligence (AI) that are either relatively new, have received considerable attention recently or perhaps have not yet been represented well. To this end, we have included special sessions on e-learning, bioinformatics, and human-robot interaction (HRI) to complement the usual offerings in areas such as data mining, machine learning, intelligent systems, neural networks, genetic algorithms, autonomous agents, natural language processing, intelligent user interfaces, evolutionary computing, fuzzy logic, computer vision and image processing, reasoning, heuristic search, security, Internet applications, constraint satisfaction problems, design, and expert systems.

Toward A Practice Of Autonomous Systems

by Francisco J. Varela, Toward A Practice Of Autonomous Systems Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Toward A Practice Of Autonomous Systems books, Artificial life embodies a recent and important conceptual step in modem science:asserting that the core of intelligence and cognitive abilities is the same as the capacity forliving. The recent surge of interest in artificial life has pushed a whole range of engineeringtraditions, such as control theory and robotics, beyond classical notions of goal and planning intobiologically inspired notions of viability and adaptation, situatedness and operationalclosure. These proceedings serve two important functions: they address bottom-up theories ofartificial intelligence and explore what can be learned from simple models such as insects about thecognitive processes and characteristic autonomy of living organisms, while also engaging researchersand philosophers in an exciting examination of the epistemological basis of this new trend.FranciscoJ. Artificial Intelligence And Neural Networks

by F. Acar Savaci, Artificial Intelligence And Neural Networks Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Artificial Intelligence And Neural Networks books, The Turkish Artificial Intelligence and Neural Network Symposium (TAINN) is an annual meeting where scientists present their new ideas and algorithms on artificial intelligence and neural networks with either oral or poster presentation. The TAINN- Turkish Conference on AI and NN Series started in 1992 at Bilkent University in Ankara, envisioned by various researchers in AI and NN then at the Bilkent, Middle East Technical, Bo aziçi and Ege universities as a forum for local researchers to get together and communicate. Since then, TAINN has been held annually around early summer. This year the 14th TAINN conference was organized by the EE and CE departments of the zmir Institute of Technology with an emphasis on international contributions. Among the 75 papers, 41 were accepted for oral presentation and 12 for poster presen-tation. In addition to the presentations, invited lectures were given by Burhan Türk en (Knowledge/Intelligence Systems Laboratory, University of Toronto) and Joerg Siekmann (German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence DFKI, Saarland University), providing us with new developments in the field. We are very grateful to the contributions of such pioneer scientists.
